Garlasco murder case, lawyer Venditti: ‘DNA a waste of taxpayers’ money and innocent people’s time’

Milan, 4 December (LaPresse) – ‘Yet another waste of taxpayers’ money, I’ve lost count, all to fuel a media lynching of innocent people who have been splashed across the front pages for months.’ These are the words of Demonico Aiello, lawyer for former Pavia deputy prosecutor Mario Venditti, who in 2017 requested and obtained the dismissal of the first investigation into Andrea Sempio and a second investigation against persons unknown (but in fact concerning Sempio) in 2020, commenting on the results of the genetic-forensic preliminary investigation filed by expert Denise Albani. ‘Garlasco defies all rules of procedural common sense and, above all, decorum and confidentiality,’ comments the lawyer of the retired magistrate, who is under investigation in Brescia for corruption in connection with that dismissal. ‘Everything is happening in front of the cameras.’ For Aiello, however, the “media trial” should not ‘be enough to turn a murderer into an innocent person and vice versa.’
