NBA: Lakers defeat Toronto, James ends double-digit streak

Milan, 5 December (LaPresse) – Five games were played last night in the NBA, with the Philadelphia 76ers beating the Golden State Warriors 99-98 at home thanks to Tyrese Maxey’s 35 points. Also in the East, the Boston Celtics cruised to an easy victory, beating the struggling Washington Wizards 146-101 on the road thanks to Derrick White’s 30 points. In the West, meanwhile, the Utah Jazz beat the Brooklyn Nets 123-110 thanks to Lauri Markkanen’s 30 points. The Los Angeles Lakers bounced back quickly, still without Luka Doncic (who returned to Slovenia for the birth of his son), beating the Toronto Raptors 123-120 on the road thanks to 44 points from Austin Reaves and a buzzer-beater from Rui Hachimura. The decisive assist came from LeBron James, who, with only 8 points on the scoreboard, broke a record streak of 1,297 games in double figures. In the last possession of the match, James had the chance to extend the streak, but preferred to pass the ball to Rui Hachimura, who was better positioned and scored the winning basket. In the last game of the night, the Minnesota Timberwolves defeated the New Orleans Pelicans 125-116 on the road with 28 points from Julius Randle.
