US, White House: ‘NATO cannot be an alliance in perpetual expansion’

Turin, 5 December (LaPresse) – Among the priorities of the United States’ overall policy for Europe is the restoration of ‘conditions of stability within Europe and strategic stability with Russia’, ‘enabling Europe to stand on its own and operate as a group of aligned sovereign nations, taking primary responsibility for its own defence, without being dominated by any adversary power’ and ‘ending the perception, and preventing the reality, of NATO as an ever-expanding alliance’. This is what we read in the document outlining the Trump administration’s new national security strategy, released by the White House.
