Eurovision: Paris says no to Israel boycott

Madrid (Spain), 5 December (LaPresse) – ‘No to the boycott of Israel at the Eurovision Song Contest.’ French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot wrote this on X. ‘France,’ he said, “will never engage in the boycott of a people, its artists or its intellectuals. This is contrary to the spirit and tradition of our country, that of Enlightenment humanism: through culture, everyone learns to understand others and finds in them what is most universal, their humanity. Is there a better way to cultivate peace?” Barrot said he was ‘pleased that Eurovision did not bow to pressure and that France helped to prevent the boycott of Israel in this forum’ and expressed ‘deep regret’ that ‘several European television stations’, including the Spanish one, ‘made a different choice’.
