Milan, 21 December (LaPresse) – Rome Fiumicino Airport has reached and exceeded, for the first time, the historic record of 50 million passengers in a year. The record was set just before the Christmas holidays, during which Aeroporti di Roma, a Mundys group company, expects to welcome a total of 2 million additional travellers between 22 December and 7 January, in addition to the 180,000 expected at Ciampino’s G.B. Pastine airport. This was reported by Aeroporti di Roma in a statement. This is the first time that Leonardo da Vinci, which has entered the Top 10 most connected airports in the world compiled by the specialist company Cirium, has welcomed such a high number of departing and arriving passengers, while ensuring the highest standards of operational quality. The year 2025 will therefore close with a total of over 51 million passengers, an increase of more than 4% compared to the previous year, equal to more than 2 million additional transits. This growth has been made possible by a network of 240 destinations, with over 30 new routes inaugurated during the year to 80 countries around the world thanks to 100 airlines, including six new carriers that have chosen to start operations at Rome Fiumicino this year.
