Rome, 22 December (LaPresse) – “What has happened in recent days is absolutely physiological. There is no budget that has not seen fluctuations and controversy, even within the majority. In this specific case, there was some misunderstanding within the League, but everything was resolved with minimal delay. And, ultimately, what matters is that we have brought about a balanced, serious budget law that guarantees, with the IRPEF cut, tax reductions for the middle class and support for businesses, ensuring the stability of public accounts.” So said Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani in an interview with Quotidiano Nazionale. ‘It is a manoeuvre that goes in the right direction,’ he explains, ‘because it aims to help the middle class, with a reduction in the tax rate from 35 to 33 per cent, to reduce the tax burden on businesses, with hyper-amortisation, and to encourage contractual increases with tax relief for workers on lower salaries. Not to mention growing investment in healthcare.’ In all this, he claims, Forza Italia has ‘avoided new taxes on homes, preventing an increase in the tax rate for short-term rentals. We have also intervened to send a signal to the police. We have managed to avoid a crackdown on businesses with the new tax on dividends, not only for large companies but also for small ones.’
