WSJ: ‘SpaceX rocket explosion endangered 450 passengers in flight’

Frankfurt (Germany), 22 December (LaPresse) – New details have emerged about the SpaceX rocket explosion last January. According to a Wall Street Journal investigation based on FAA documents, fragments of the Starship endangered more than 450 passengers on two commercial flights and a private jet, forcing pilots to make extreme choices between flying through the debris or diverting with fuel near the limit. A JetBlue flight issued a “Mayday” alert and made an emergency landing in San Juan. The FAA points out that SpaceX did not promptly notify the emergency hotline. No damage was caused, but the incident has reignited fears about the safety of private space launches, while SpaceX confirms that it intends to continue testing with an even more powerful version of the rocket.
