Milan, 29 December (LaPresse) – “I only played Jannik once (last year, ed.), at the US Open, and it was a very tough defeat because I couldn’t express myself at all. I was well below his level.” So said Lorenzo Musetti during an interview with Gill Gross on YouTube. However, the world No. 6 had different feelings when asked for his opinion on his match against Carlos Alcaraz: ‘I think I played good tennis against him, especially on clay, and sometimes I even found myself in the lead, like in Monte Carlo or at Roland Garros,’ the Tuscan pointed out, as reported by Supertennis. ‘To maintain this level, I always ended up hurting myself,’ concluded Musetti, who is 7-1 down in head-to-head matches against the current world No. 1. ‘To catch up with them, I have to work very hard physically, which I am doing, but I need more time to prepare,’ the Italian said during his chat. ‘I have a new coach on my team, Jose Perlas, who can bring more experience and advice, and we are working hard to get off to a good start in Australia.’
