Venezuela, Maduro: “Against the US threat, our army is more ready than ever”

Caracas (Venezuela), 29 Dec. (LaPresse) – Venezuela has been “threatened by Goliath” for 27 weeks, but our armed forces are “more ready than ever.” This was stated by Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, referring to tensions with the United States. “Trying to use threats, like Goliath did, against a noble and peaceful but warrior people, like the people of Venezuela, is a crime,” he said during the traditional end-of-year greeting to the troops broadcast on state television. Despite this, Maduro assured that Venezuela’s armed forces “are more ready than ever to continue guaranteeing peace and territorial sovereignty” and expressed pride in the “combat capability” demonstrated by the military. “We are the true liberators of a continent,” he added.
