Ukraine, US: phone call with UK, France, Germany and Kyiv

Milan, Dec. 31 (LaPresse) – “Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Jared Kushner and I have just had a productive phone conversation with national security advisers Jonathan Powell of the United Kingdom, Emmanuel Bonne of France, Günter Sautter of Germany, Rustem Umerov and Volodymyr Zelensky to discuss the next steps to be taken in the European peace process.” This is what US envoy Steve Witkoff wrote in a post on X. “We focused on how to move the discussions forward in a practical way on behalf of the President of the United States in the peace process, including strengthening security guarantees and developing effective deconfliction mechanisms to help end the war and ensure that it does not restart,” the post reads. “We also devoted time to the prosperity package for Ukraine, that is, how to continue to define, refine and advance these concepts so that Ukraine can succeed, be resilient and truly prosper once the war is over. Many other details were discussed, and we will continue this important work and coordination in the new year.”
