Iran, Trump: “Khamenei is trying to go somewhere”

Washington, Jan. 9 (LaPresse) – In an interview with Sean Hannity aired last night on Fox News, United States President Donald Trump suggested that 86-year-old Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei might want to leave Iran. “He’s trying to go somewhere,” Trump said, “the situation is getting much worse.” In an interview with TV host Hugh Hewitt, also aired yesterday, Trump reiterated his promise to “make Iran pay” if the protests are harshly repressed. “Iran has been told very strongly, even stronger than I’m telling you now, that if they do this, there will be consequences,” the U.S. president said. He hesitated when asked if he would meet the exiled Iranian crown prince Reza Pahlavi. “I’m not sure it would be appropriate to do that right now as president,” Trump replied, “I think we should let everyone go out there and see who emerges.”
