Milan, 9 January (LaPresse) – The Court of Cassation has overturned the ruling against Turin Imam Mohamed Shahin, who remains free pending a new ruling by the Turin Court of Appeal. LaPresse has learned this from qualified sources. On 30 December, the Court of Appeal of Caltanissetta upheld the decision not to expel Shahin from Italy, following a ruling issued by Home Secretary Matteo Piantedosi. Just two weeks earlier, the Court of Appeal of Turin had ruled on the case, establishing that Shahin should be released from the CPR (Centre for Permanent Residence) to which he had been transferred at the end of November.
