Iran: cigarettes lit with photos of Khamenei, viral protest by Iranian women abroad

Rome, Jan. 10 (LaPresse) – Iranian women living abroad lighting cigarettes with burning photos of Ayatollah Khamenei. This is the new protest that is quickly spreading across social media, relaunched by various international media outlets, including the Daily Mail. The British newspaper explains that smoking is strongly frowned upon for women in Iran, while burning the photo of the country’s leader is a crime. A particularly viral video was shot by an Iranian woman living in Toronto. None of the women participating in the protest are wearing veils.
