Cuba, Havana responds to Trump: ‘The US threatens peace throughout the world’

Milan, 11 January (LaPresse) – Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez has responded to US President Donald Trump, who suggested in a post on his social media platform Truth that Havana should reach an agreement with the United States, warning that the island will no longer receive oil or money from Venezuela. “Right and justice are on Cuba’s side. The United States is behaving like a criminal and out-of-control hegemon that threatens peace and security, not only in Cuba and this hemisphere, but throughout the world,” Rodríguez wrote in a post on X. Trump said that ‘for many years, Cuba has lived off the vast amounts of oil and money coming from Venezuela’ and ‘in return, Cuba has provided “security services” to the last two Venezuelan dictators, but not anymore.’ To this, Rodríguez replied: “Cuba does not receive and has never received monetary or material compensation for the security services it provides to any country. Unlike the United States, we do not have a government that lends itself to mercenary activities, blackmail or military coercion against other states.”
