Rome, Jan. 13 (LaPresse) – “Manipulating and exaggerating the figures relating to the dead and injured has always been one of the tactics of Iran’s enemies to increase pressure and distort reality. Recently, ambassadors from various countries were shown footage of the unrest demonstrating how terrorist individuals target civilians and law enforcement forces with gunfire,” said Iran’s ambassador to Italy, Mohammad Reza Sabouri, in an interview with LaPresse. “What strikes me is how human rights organizations have remained silent in the face of the reality of the martyrdom of more than one thousand innocent women and men during the 12 days of aggression by the Israeli regime, while today they suddenly claim to be concerned about fabricated statistics,” he added. “Contacts between the foreign minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Araghchi, and Mr. Witkoff, special envoy of Donald Trump, have been ongoing for some time and were already active before these protests. In recent days, both before and after the demonstrations, such contacts have continued. Iran has never shied away from negotiations, but believes they must be fair and just, based on mutual interests and respect,” Reza Sabouri explained.
