Barachini: ‘Commitment to protect jobs in Gedi sale reaffirmed’

Milan, 14 January (LaPresse) – “During the meeting with senior management, I immediately emphasised the need for the company to commit to and include in the agreements the protection of employment levels and the guarantee of editorial independence for historic publications, which represent an important strategic resource for the pluralistic national information ecosystem. I urged the group to ensure maximum transparency at all stages of the negotiations and, in particular, I asked to be kept promptly informed of any developments and any non-European participation in the corporate vehicle interested in the purchase.” This was stated by Undersecretary for Publishing Alberto Barachini in his report read to the Culture Committee during the hearing on issues related to the sale of the Gedi publishing group.
