Greenland: Berlin: ‘German soldiers on multinational mission from Thursday’

Frankfurt (Germany), 14 January (LaPresse) – Germany will participate in a multinational reconnaissance mission in Greenland at the invitation of Denmark. This was announced by the German Ministry of Defence, specifying that the initiative will take place from 15 to 17 January 2026 with the involvement of several European countries. The aim of the mission is to “assess the framework conditions for possible military contributions to support Denmark in ensuring security in the region, particularly with regard to capabilities such as maritime surveillance”. To this end, the Ministry of Defence announced that “the Bundeswehr will send a reconnaissance team of 13 military personnel tomorrow morning, who will travel to Nuuk on board an Airbus A400M transport aircraft. Activities on site will be conducted jointly with representatives of the other partner nations involved in the mission”.
