Turin, Jan. 16 (LaPresse) – According to a new poll commissioned by CNN, public opinion on almost every aspect of President Donald Trump’s first year back in the White House is negative. The majority of Americans say the tycoon is focusing on the wrong priorities and doing too little to address the cost of living. Fifty-eight percent of Americans believe that Trump’s first year in office has been a failure. The poll suggests that Trump is struggling to show that he is addressing economic issues and reveals widespread concerns about the tycoon’s use of presidential power and his efforts to leave his mark on American culture. Fifty-five percent of respondents say Trump’s policies have worsened the country’s economic conditions, while only 32% say they have improved them. A majority, 64%, say he has not gone far enough in his efforts to reduce consumer prices. Much of the public doubts that Trump is prioritizing their interests. Only 36%, according to the CNN-commissioned poll, now say he has the right priorities, down from 45% at the start of his term. Only a third of Americans say they believe Trump cares about people like them, down from 40% last March, the worst result of his political career. Only 37% say the president puts the good of the country ahead of his personal gain, and 32% say he is in tune with the problems ordinary Americans face in their daily lives.
