Pakistan: 12 Killed in Suicide Bombing at Military Base

Peshawar (Pakistan), March 5 (LaPresse/AP) – Two suicide bombers detonated part of the wall of a military base in northwestern Pakistan, allowing other attackers to storm the compound before being repelled in clashes that left at least 12 dead and 30 injured, according to security officials and a local hospital.

A group affiliated with the Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack in Bannu, in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, stating that dozens of Pakistani security personnel had been killed.

According to a security official, the two suicide bombers blew themselves up near the wall of the vast military complex. "After the breach in the wall, another five or six attackers attempted to enter the military cantonment but were eliminated," the official added.
