Turin, 18 January (LaPresse) – Fiorentina won 2-1 at the Dall’Ara stadium against Bologna in the Serie A matchday 21 fixture and dedicated the victory to Rocco Commisso, the Viola club president who passed away yesterday at the age of 76. The Tuscan side got off to a flying start and, after a goal by Ndour was disallowed, took the lead in the 19th minute with a strike by Mandragora from Gudmundsson’s cross from the left. Immediately after the goal, the midfielder ran to the bench to pick up a shirt with the number 5 and the name “Rocco” on the back, dedicated to the late president. In stoppage time in the first half, Piccoli slid in to double the lead in spectacular fashion, aided by a fortuitous deflection off Freuler. In the second half, Italiano turned the team around by making four changes at half-time. Bologna reacted and reduced the deficit after Rowe hit the post with a header from Fabbian in the 43rd minute, but the Emiliani’s final push did not bear fruit. Vanoli’s team – in the stands due to suspension – thus secured a valuable victory in the battle for survival, climbing to 17 points and catching up with Lecce in fourth from bottom. Bologna, on the other hand, remain on 30 points, in eighth place.
