Rome, 24 January (LaPresse) – Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, has moved to a special underground shelter in Tehran after senior military and security officials assessed an increased risk of a potential US attack. This was reported to Iran International, a London-based Iranian opposition channel, by two sources close to the government. The facility is described as a fortified site with interconnected tunnels. The sources indicated that Masoud Khamenei, the Supreme Leader’s third son, has taken over the day-to-day running of the leader’s office and acts as the main channel of communication with the executive branches of government.
