Rome, 26 January (LaPresse) – Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni today received the Italian Ambassador to Switzerland, Gian Lorenzo Cornado, at Palazzo Chigi. The ambassador had been recalled to Rome, in agreement with Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, in light of the decision by the Court of Coercive Measures in Sion to order the release of Jacques Moretti. This was reported in a statement from Palazzo Chigi. “At the meeting, which was also attended by Undersecretary of State Alfredo Mantovano and State Attorney General Gabriella Palmieri Sandulli, it was decided – reads the statement – to make the Ambassador’s return to Switzerland conditional upon the establishment of effective cooperation between the judicial authorities of the two States and the immediate formation of a joint investigation team to ascertain, without further delay, responsibility for the massacre in Crans-Montana on 1 January 2026”.
