Bill on violence against women, Bongiorno: “Criticized without reading it, but it is a turning point”

Rome, Jan. 27 (LaPresse) – “Today the unified text will be put to a vote, which is the text signed by me.” This was stated by the chair of the Senate Justice Committee, Giulia Bongiorno. “I must say that many have spoken about my text without reading it, others have read it and distorted it,” the senator says. “My text places the woman’s will at the center and does not create any reversal of the burden of proof. For the first time in Italy, when there is neither consent nor dissent, there is a presumption of dissent in so-called freezing cases. Therefore, a turning point in favor of women. Those who say the opposite, in my view, should perhaps reflect.”
