Milan, 28 January (LaPresse) – Amazon will cut approximately 16,000 jobs in the latest wave of mass layoffs in the technology sector. Beth Galetti, senior vice president of the e-commerce company, made the announcement on Wednesday in a blog post. The cuts follow a series of layoffs in October, when Amazon laid off 14,000 workers. “The cuts we are making today will impact approximately 16,000 roles at Amazon, and we are working hard to support everyone affected. We will start by offering most US-based employees 90 days to look for a new role internally (timelines will vary internationally based on local and national requirements). After that, for colleagues who are unable to find a new role at Amazon or who choose not to look, we will provide transition support that includes severance, outplacement services, health insurance benefits (where applicable) and more,” Galetti explained.
