U.S., Don Lemon released after appearing in court: “I won’t stop”

Los Angeles, Jan. 31 (LaPresse) – Former CNN journalist Don Lemon has been released from custody after being charged with federal civil rights offenses in connection with an anti-immigration protest that disrupted services at a church in Minnesota. He was arrested in Los Angeles and released after appearing in court. Lemon is accused of conspiracy and interfering with the First Amendment rights of worshippers during the January 18 protest at Cities Church in St. Paul. Lemon stated that he had no affiliation with the organization and was there as an independent journalist to document the protesters. “I have spent my entire career covering the news. I won’t stop now,” Lemon said. In the federal court in Los Angeles, the assistant U.S. attorney requested a $100,000 bond, arguing before the judge that Lemon “knowingly joined a crowd that stormed a church.” However, he was released without having to pay any bond and was granted permission to travel to France in June while the case proceeds.
