Kiev, Jan. 31 (LaPresse) – “I will be honest. I do not believe at all in Putin’s promises: he is an inveterate liar. Since the beginning of the war, he has always said that his forces attack only military targets, but then why, for four years, has he been launching missiles and drones against our cities and civilian infrastructure? How does he explain our 300 fellow citizens killed since 2022 and the more than 1,000 apartments destroyed?” This was stated in an interview with Corriere della Sera by the mayor of Kiev, Vitaly Klitschko. Asked if he is worried, the former boxer says: “Never so many attacks and never so cold: my most difficult period as mayor.” “I am responsible for serving my citizens and I must tell the truth. When I admitted that we did not have the resources to meet everyone’s needs, I advised temporarily evacuating anyone who could. I did it and I would do it again. Fewer residents means being able to guarantee better services,” he adds.
