Milan Cortina, Arianna Fontana: ‘I want to bring home the maximum’

Milan, 1 February (LaPresse) – “I’m going to bring home as much as possible: that’s my approach to every Olympics I’ve participated in. The minimum goal is to reach the final in all five races I want to participate in, three individual and two relays. If I leave the ice knowing I’ve given it my all, but someone else has won, good for them. I don’t want any regrets.‘ Arianna Fontana, Italian short track and speed skater, said this in an interview with Corriere della Sera. Next Friday at San Siro, she will carry the Italian flag for the second time in her career (the first was at the 2018 Pyeongchang Games). ’I couldn’t miss a second Olympics at home. And then, after Beijing, I didn’t feel that sense of fulfilment and finality that so many athletes who have retired have told me about,‘ she said, emphasising that she is not “clear” whether, at the end of February, ’I will stop or treat myself to another ride on the merry-go-round‘. ’Let’s talk about it again at the end of the Olympics,” she added.
