Washington (USA), 3 February (LaPresse) – SpaceX, the rocket and satellite manufacturer led by Elon Musk, has acquired xAI, the artificial intelligence company controlled by Musk himself. This was reported by the New York Times based on a memo seen by the newspaper and confirmed by three people familiar with the deal. The transaction creates the world’s most valuable private company, combining a portfolio that includes rockets, xAI’s Grok chatbot and the X social media platform. ‘SpaceX has acquired xAI to form the most ambitious and vertically integrated innovation engine on Earth (and in space), with artificial intelligence, rockets, space internet, direct mobile communications and the world’s leading platform for real-time information and free speech,’ Musk wrote in the memo addressed to some of his employees, obtained by the Times. The billionaire cited the need to build data centres in space as one of the main reasons behind the deal.
