Rome, 3 February (LaPresse) – “Another weekend of joint police checks in Milan’s nightlife areas. The State Police, Carabinieri, Guardia di Finanza, Local Police and Fire Brigade were all involved: the result was four arrests for drug offences and eight reports for weapons violations. A nightclub was suspended for serious safety irregularities. A total of 1,015 people were identified, including 479 foreign nationals, and 182 vehicles were checked as a result of the operation.” This was reported by the Minister of the Interior, Matteo Piantedosi, on X. “These results were achieved thanks to the measures put in place by the government to prevent and combat illegality and degradation in many Italian cities,” wrote the Minister of the Interior. ‘The crime statistics for the past year, although not yet finalised, confirm the decline in crime that characterised the previous months. In 2025, the number of crimes was more than 3% lower than the 2,399,000 committed in the previous year, and also lower than those committed in 2023. These measures have made it possible to ensure an even more effective security framework, as demonstrated by the decrease in 2025 in certain crimes that cause greater social alarm: homicides -15%, injuries -3.1%, sexual violence -6.2%, exploitation of prostitution and child pornography -6.7%, theft -6.5%, robbery -4.5%.
