Taipei (Taiwan), 5 February (LaPresse/AP) – Relations between Taiwan and the United States are ‘rock solid’. This was stated by the island’s president, Lai Ching-te, a few hours after President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping discussed issues including the future of the autonomous island over the phone. ‘Relations between Taiwan and the United States are rock solid, and all cooperation projects will continue without interruption,’ Lai Ching-te told reporters during a visit to textile merchants in western Taiwan.
