Rigopiano: in Perugia Appeal Court, 3 convictions and 5 acquittals

Rome, 11 February (LaPresse) – Three officials from the Abruzzo Region convicted of culpable disaster, five acquittals and two statute-barred cases in the appeal court ruling issued by the Court of Perugia for the Rigopiano tragedy. Among those acquitted was the former mayor of Farindola, Ilario Lacchetta. “The ruling tells us that the ineptitude of the public administration can kill,” said Romolo Reboa, lawyer for the families of the victims of the hotel in Farindola that was hit by an avalanche. On 18 January 2017, 29 people died and only 11 survived.
