Milan, 13 February (LaPresse) – ‘I honestly don’t know what to say, I think the race speaks for itself. I really sucked, I disappointed myself and everyone who believed in me. I’m sorry it turned out this way, it could be my last Olympics and my last 10,000 metres, and ending my long-distance career like this is not the most pleasant thing.’ This is how a disappointed Davide Ghiotto commented on his sixth place in the 10,000 metres speed skating event at the Winter Olympics in Milan Cortina. “Now let’s put today behind us, there’s still a team event to win. Tomorrow is another day. I would like to thank everyone who has supported me over the years, especially the Fiamme Gialle. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank my family and friends who came here today. I am sorry to have disappointed everyone. I really believed in this race, but unfortunately, that’s how sport is,” added the Italian athlete in the mixed zone.
