Iran, Axios: Tuesday in Geneva another round of talks with US on nuclear

Milan, 14 Feb. (LaPresse) – The United States and Iran will hold a new round of nuclear talks in Geneva. This is reported by Axios, citing a U.S. official and three informed sources, according to whom the U.S. delegation will include Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner and White House envoy Steve Witkoff, while the Iranian delegation is expected to be led by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. Omani Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi, who is mediating between the parties, is also expected to participate. In Geneva on the same Tuesday, U.S.-Russia-Kiev trilateral talks on Ukraine are also scheduled: according to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, announced yesterday and later confirmed by Kiev, the new round will take place in the Swiss city on 17 and 18 February. Regarding the talks on Iran, according to Axios, citing a U.S. official, at the beginning of the week Witkoff spoke with the Omani foreign minister and delivered several messages regarding the nuclear negotiations to be transmitted to the Iranians. The head of Omani diplomacy then prepared a document based on the call with Witkoff and delivered it to the Secretary of the Iranian Supreme National Security Council, Ali Larijani, during his visit to Muscat on Tuesday.
