Cagliari, Feb. 14 (LaPresse) – Since Feb. 11, over 1,000 interventions have been carried out by the fire brigade due to the bad weather affecting the island. About 600 firefighters are engaged daily to handle the continuous requests received by the operational rooms of the provincial commands. Currently, around 120 requests are still waiting for intervention; deployment of teams is based on the priority of the rescue. Yesterday evening, the divers from the Cagliari Command intervened to rescue a flock of sheep stranded on a small islet in the Oristano area due to rising waters. During the night, divers from the Sassari Command, together with water and river rescuers, intervened in Camedda, in the municipality of Ittiri, to assist five people stranded following the swelling of a river that prevented them from safely returning home. The most affected commands are those of Cagliari, Sassari, and Nuoro; in Oristano, the number of interventions is also above the average for this period.
