Munich, Feb. 14 (LaPresse) – “It is the courage and resilience of the Ukrainian people that make the difference. For this reason, Ukrainians deserve gratitude and respect,” said the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, during his speech at the Munich Security Conference, greeted with a standing ovation. “I want to thank all those who support us with concrete actions, such as Germany and our European friends. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte begins and ends every speech by asking for support for the Purl (the mechanism for purchasing weapons and ammunition for Ukraine). The Purl exists thanks to Europe, which is paying to ensure our capacity to conduct ballistic strikes. These systems help us save lives,” Zelensky added. He continued: “There must be real security guarantees for Ukraine and for Europe, solid security guarantees, and we clearly know what these guarantees must include. We have strong agreements to sign with the United States and with Europe, and we believe that the security guarantees agreement must precede any agreement to end the war. These guarantees answer the main question: how long will there be no more war? And we hope President Trump listens to us. We hope Congress listens to us. We hope the American people listen to us.”
