Rome, 21 February (LaPresse) – ‘This is a difficult time, but we are receiving reports of pages asking for money, there are IBANs for Domenico, they are asking for bank transfers to specific IBANs: on Monday we will go to a solicitor to set up a committee to establish a foundation’. This is what lawyer Francesco Petruzzi, representing Patrizia Mercolino, the mother of the child who underwent a damaged heart transplant on 23 December and died this morning, told journalists outside Monaldi Hospital. “We will open a dedicated bank account and make an official announcement. Please do not make any transfers. There are scammers at work, sending messages everywhere right now. I will ask the postal police for help because, unfortunately, people who are sensitive to this story may be scammed, and we must prevent Domenico’s name from being tarnished.” Regarding the Foundation, the lawyer explains that it will be ‘in Domenico’s name, for all children who cannot undergo transplants and to help all victims of malpractice and medical negligence.’
