Epstein case: media reports that Charles would not oppose removing Andrew from line of succession

Brussels, 21 February (LaPresse) – Buckingham Palace would not oppose plans to remove Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor from the royal line of succession, while police have confirmed that the search of his former residence in Windsor will continue over the weekend. The Guardian reports this, citing royal sources who say that King Charles would not stand in the way of Parliament if it wanted to exclude his brother from the line of succession. Former Prince Andrew, who was arrested this week on charges of misconduct in public office in connection with his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, remains eighth in line to the throne, despite having been stripped of all his royal titles and relieved of all official duties. Removing Andrew from the line of succession would require new legislation, which would need the support of MPs, as well as the assent of the King and the backing of the 14 Commonwealth countries.
