Milan-Cortina, Tomasoni: ‘Sometimes fairy tales do come true’

Livigno (Sondrio), 21 February (LaPresse) – ‘Fairy tales and stories like this do sometimes come true. I brought this sunshine to my helmet with my heart and my legs. I’ve been imagining this moment for a week, and it will take some time to realise.’ These were the words of Federico Tomasoni, silver medallist in ski cross at the Milan-Cortina Games, behind Simone Deromedis. The athlete from Bergamo was born in Castione delle Presolana and was engaged to 20-year-old Lorenzi, who died in training after a terrible fall. The sun is the symbol of the foundation dedicated to her: Matildina4Safety. ‘They couldn’t have done better, it was incredible, it’s a dream. This double podium will definitely give the movement a boost. They couldn’t have done more,’ he added. On his helmet is a sun that has a special meaning for him.
