Regeni case: defence counsel appointed for four Egyptian defendants

Rome, 24 February (LaPresse) – The verdict is expected between June and July for the four Egyptian agents accused of the kidnapping and murder of Giulio Regeni, the researcher from Friuli found dead in Cairo, Egypt, on 3 February 2016. The trial, which had been suspended since October, resumed today following the ruling of the Constitutional Court. The Court of Assizes of Rome has appointed a new technical consultant for the defence of the accused. The confrontation between the parties is expected on 8 June. On 23 and 24 June, in the bunker courtroom of Rebibbia, the closing arguments of Deputy Prosecutor Sergio Colaiocco will be heard.
