Rome, 24 February (LaPresse) – ‘I find this continuous delegitimisation of a state power, the judiciary, very serious, because there is also a day after this referendum, and I think we have a responsibility to look to the day after, without leaving ruins behind.’ So said Elly Schlein, speaking at a PD event in Latina in favour of voting “No” in the referendum. ‘The social media page of Fratelli d’Italia and President Meloni now looks like a crime magazine,’ she added. This constant attack on the judiciary, on a branch of government, ultimately undermines citizens’ trust in all institutions, and I think we have a responsibility to discuss the merits of this reform. It is regrettable that even the authoritative appeal made by President Mattarella at the plenary session of the CSM (High Council of the Judiciary) has been so little heeded. They said they would tone down their rhetoric, but honestly, I have not had that impression in recent days, especially today when we have another government representative, Fazzolari, who goes so far as to say that Putin would vote no to this reform, in spite of the non-politicisation and toning down of rhetoric. Among other things, on a day like today, which marks the anniversary of Putin’s criminal invasion of Ukraine.” .
Referendum, Schlein: ‘For Fazzolari, those who vote no are like Putin, Mattarella unheard’
