Skiing, Brignone: ‘My body is taking its toll, I’m taking a break’

Rome, 2 March (LaPresse) – Federica Brignone’s short but incredible competitive season has come to an end in Soldeu. The two-time Olympic super-G and giant slalom champion at Milan Cortina 2026, who returned to the slopes with incredible results after her serious injury on 3 April 2025, has decided not to take part in the upcoming World Cup stages scheduled from Friday 6 to Sunday 7 March in Val di Fassa, nor in the subsequent weekends in Are on 14/15 March (giant slalom and slalom) and the finals in Norway from 21 to 25 March. ‘I think I have asked a lot of my body over the past few months,’ said Brignone. From the day I was injured, I dedicated myself entirely to the goal of participating in the 2026 Milan-Cortina Olympics, achieving the double result of carrying the Italian flag and climbing onto the podium. I even managed to do it twice, climbing onto the top step of the podium. I tried to continue the season, but now my body is taking its toll. So I am taking advantage of the season now coming to an end to take a break and then continue my rehabilitation, which has logically been forced throughout this time to achieve the miracle we have been able to accomplish. I would like to thank everyone who believed in the Olympic dream and allowed me to get back on my feet and participate in this season.
