Turin, 3 March (LaPresse) – Eleven Italian athletes will take part in the World Cup stage in Lahti, Finland, which will feature a new freestyle sprint on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 March, followed by an individual 10-kilometre classic technique race. Federico Pellegrino will return to the snow that crowned him world champion in the sprint skating event on 23 February 2017, ahead of Russia’s Sergey Ustiugov and Johannes Klaebo. This gold medal was followed the following year by another triumph in the same event on the World Cup stage. The champion from Valle d’Aosta will lead the Italian team which, according to the selections made by technical manager Markus Cramer, will also include Elia Barp, Davide Graz, Martino Carollo, Michael Hellweger, Simone Mocellini and Simone Daprà in the men’s event, while the women’s team will feature Caterina Ganz, Nicole Monsorno, Federica Cassol and Iris De Martin Pinter.
