Milan, 4 Mar. (LaPresse) – On the occasion of International Women’s Rights Day, MUPA, the museum that explores today’s patriarchal society, is coming to Milan from the future. ActionAid and Le Bambole di Pezza will open the exhibition at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, 7 March, at the Fabbrica del Vapore. The ribbon-cutting will be led by Katia Scannavini, Co-Secretary General of ActionAid, the five members of the Milanese rock band returning from Sanremo, and Elena Lattuada, the Mayor’s Delegate for Gender Equality in the Municipality of Milan.
Twenty-seven works – including four never-before-seen pieces – will be on display, featuring memorabilia, artifacts, dioramas, interactive installations, and testimonies that make up the exhibition and guide visitors through “old habits of the past.” Entering MUPA means immersing yourself in a space-time journey that leads to 2148 (the year in which, according to the latest Global Gender Gap Report, gender equality will be achieved), into a desirable future where patriarchy has been abandoned by everyone. A museum from the future showing fragments of our current daily and social life, revealing its absurdity, injustice, and hidden violence—from work to media, digital spaces, sports, and domestic and relational spheres.
MUPA will be open from 7 to 21 March, with the only exception of Monday, 9 March, when it will close to support collective participation in the national strike organized by Non Una di Meno. In addition to the exhibition, the program includes talks, workshops, labs, lessons, and performances, as well as a Kids area with dedicated events, all in collaboration with anti-violence centers, networks, and feminist organizations.
