Milan, 9 March (LaPresse) – “If the Meloni government intervenes on excise duties, we will be able to maintain a balance in consumption and in the pockets of Italians, following the so-called “Hormuz Crisis” that is affecting the entire Middle East. We are waiting to find out how the measure on mobile excise duty and other targeted measures will be arranged and whether it will be possible to intervene in a timely manner. Crude oil prices are constantly rising and are off the scale. Without government intervention, the situation will become difficult.” This is what Federpetroli president Michele Marsiglia told LaPresse, commenting on the government’s possible intervention on excise duties. ‘We are talking about products that are necessary for daily consumption,’ Marsiglia emphasised. ‘Our country needs a National Energy Strategy, which does not exist today, an energy policy that allows Italy to be independent and avoid difficult situations for Italian consumers in any economic context and in the event of foreign crises.’
