Indian Wells (California, USA), Mar. 9 (LaPresse) – Jasmine Paolini reaches the round of 16 at the ‘BNP Paribas Open’, the third WTA 1000 of the season (combined with the first ATP Masters 1000 of 2026) with a total prize money of $9,415,715, taking place on the Californian hard courts of the Indian Wells Tennis Garden. The Italian overcame Australian Alja Tomljanovic, WTA No. 85, in the third round 7-5, 5-7, 6-1. Paolini had won in straight sets their only previous encounter against the 32-year-old of Croatian origin (born in Zagreb) in the second round of Roland Garros 2025 on clay. The Tuscan will face in the round of 16 the Australian qualifier Talia Gibson (110), who surprised Clara Tauson (No. 17) 7-6(2), 4-6, 6-4.
