Iran, Turkey warns: ‘We will not hesitate to act if threatened’

Rome, 9 March (LaPresse) – The Turkish Ministry of Defence has stated that, while attaching great importance to peaceful relations and stability in the region, Turkey will not hesitate to act if its territory or airspace is threatened. ‘We reiterate once again that all necessary measures will be taken firmly and without hesitation against any threat to our country’s territory or airspace,’ the ministry said in a statement. ‘We remind everyone that it is in everyone’s interest to respect Turkey’s warnings in this regard.’ A ballistic missile launched from Iran entered Turkish airspace and was destroyed by NATO air defence systems. The ministry specified that the missile debris fell on deserted fields in the southern Turkish province of Gaziantep and that there were no reports of damage or casualties.
