The US government is ready to help American citizens leave the Middle East if you choose to take advantage of the options available.‘ This is according to a statement from the US embassy in Beirut. ’We are working on additional options to assist Americans leaving the Middle East,” it reads. ‘We are closely monitoring the situation and are committed to providing timely information and assistance to US citizens in the affected area. We urge all Americans to remain vigilant, follow the instructions of local authorities, and consult the latest guidelines from the US Embassy. Your well-being remains our primary concern.’ ‘The US government is prepared to assist American citizens in leaving the Middle East if you choose to take advantage of the available options,’ the statement continues. ‘If you choose not to take advantage of the available departure options, Americans should be prepared to take refuge in a safe place within their residence or another secure building. Keep a supply of food, water, medicine and other essential items,’ it concludes.
