Rome, 10 March (LaPresse) – Pope Leo XIV has accepted the resignation of Monsignor Emanuel Hana Shaleta from the pastoral governance of the Eparchy of Saint Peter the Apostle of San Diego of the Chaldeans (USA) and has appointed Monsignor Saad Hanna Sirop, titular bishop of Hirta, as apostolic administrator sede vacante of the same district. This was announced by the Holy See Press Office. Monsignor Shaleta was arrested in recent days while attempting to leave the country. Shaleta faces several charges of embezzlement and money laundering.
