Crans-Montana, mayor under investigation remains in office

Milan, 10 March (LaPresse) – The mayor of Crans-Montana, Nicolas Féraud, will remain in office despite being investigated for the New Year’s Eve fire at Le Constellation bar in which 41 people died. From now on, however, he will no longer be involved in the political management of the aftermath of the tragedy. In a press release, the Crans-Montana Municipal Council acknowledged Féraud’s preventive detention. The Executive states that it will ‘continue to work calmly.’ Opening today’s crisis meeting, the twenty-fourth since 1 January, the mayor formally informed the Municipal Council of his preventive detention and proposed his recusal for the remainder of the meeting. As of today, he will no longer participate in meetings on the massacre. He will be replaced by Councillor Sébastien Rey, who is responsible for the economy, rural affairs and leisure. This has been reported by the Swiss media.
