Rome, Mar 11 (LaPresse) – “Let us continue to pray for peace in Iran and throughout the Middle East, particularly for the many civilian victims, including numerous innocent children.” This is what Pope Leo XIV said at the conclusion of the general audience. “May our prayer be a comfort to those who suffer and a seed of hope for the future,” he added.
Leo XIV also expressed his thoughts for Lebanon. “Today in Lebanon, the funerals of Father Pierre El Rai, a Maronite parish priest in one of the Christian villages in southern Lebanon, are being held. These communities are once again experiencing the tragedy of war. I stand with all the Lebanese people in this time of grave trial. Father Pierre was a true shepherd who always remained close to his people with the love and sacrifice of Jesus, the Good Shepherd. May the Lord make his shed blood a seed of peace for beloved Lebanon,” said the Pope.
